Yes, I have been to Afghanistan twice in 2005.
Indeed the people are very, very good, very friendly and very famous for their hospitability.
The country is obviously full of natural resources, but unfortunately due to lack of a proper government for at least ten eight decades and before that rolling of British Empire in the country, nothing has been built in this country.
Five decades the country was in the hand of a British puppet family, after that the soviet invasion came up and then civil war and Talibanizim started by Pakistan.
Afghans are very unhappy about Americans, as the Americans forgotten then by the withdrawal of soviets army from Afghanistan.
Most of the time they think as soon as interest of America is over in their country, the Americans will be forgetting this country again as it has happened in the past.

I lived there for a year and a half (04/05). The Afghani people do vary a lot depending on the region and level of education. Most are very poor and uneducated. I don't think most of them want the taliban back in power but the don't want to live under an American military regime either. The problem is that most people don't really know enough about what is going on to do much about it. That and they are more concerned about their next meal and not stepping on land mines then about who is governing the country. The only way I can see anything changing is to keep the country stable enough to educate the younger generation. I think once that has been done people will want to effect change in their own country.
When you say "out prospects for completion", do you mean the US military? Completing what?

Oh yeah, once I was invited by an Afghan friend to Bulkh province of Afghanistan, it is a nice mountainous country lovely and hospitable people.
Very famous for their bravery and hospitability, unfortunately decades of unrest have damaged most of country's institutions.
It is a nice agricultural country.
Anyone how can be honest to the Afghan, he/she will be never harmed in this country.
