Chop an onion and fry gently till soft and add to prepared gravy.
I either use a bought gravy mix or my own made from meat juices if I'm serving it with a roast!
I've tried the onion gravy mix and found it horrible so always make it with fresh onion. Only takes a few minutes and you can cook the onion whilst preparing the gravy.
Enjoy.

fry the onion lightly to brown off and then add gravy which ever you lke the best (oxo, bisto etc) into the same pan.

simmer or do it in the oven either is just as good. the onion juces will then go into the gravy the longer you leave it simmering.

thicken with cornflower and enjoy!

1 tbsp Heaped Flour
1 Bay Leaf
Pinch Dried Sage
Soy Sauce
Salt and Pepper, to taste

Peel and chop the onion.
Heat the oil in a heavy based saucepan and add the onion, sauté gently until golden brown.
Add the flour and herbs, cook for 3-4 minutes, ensuring that the flour does not burn.

slice your onions and fry gently in butter until deep golden brown. add a little flour and stir in, this will thicken the gravy. add a generous plash of marsala wine and boil to evaporate the alcohol and then add chicken stock. bring to the boil and simmer until thickened. season to taste.
