I understand your concern for your son & your family's well being.
You, obviously, are not very well educated about the disease
and how it is spread to others. My sister has active hepatitis B. She also has a live in boyfriend and 9 children that live with her.
Her boyfriend and all her children do not have the disease. My husband and I visit a lot. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old.
Both of my children can't be vaccinated for it do to allergies.
I am not worried that we might catch it from my sister because it is only tramittted via the methods i've listed below.
Vaginal, Anal, and Oral sex, kissing that involves an exchange of saliva if there are small cuts and open sores in the mouth, exposure to the blood of the infected person (their blood has to enter your body through an open sore, cut, or through a mucus
membrane.), sharing needles ie drug needles used by the infected person, sharing a toothbrush or razor used by the infected person.
You can't get it from a kiss on the cheek, a hug, breathing the same air, using the same toliet, touching the same things the infected person touched is okay. You can't get it if you talk to them like a normal person.
People with Hepatitis B aren't lepers and don't deserve to be treated like crap and avoided. Get educated about the disease and stop isolating your neighbors.
They could use some friends, right now.

The hepatitis B virus is spread from one person to another through body fluids, including blood, semen, and vaginal fluids (including menstrual blood). Contact with a body fluid can occur from sexual contact, sharing needles or other equipment (such as cotton, spoons, and water) to inject illegal drugs, handling blood or instruments used to draw blood, sharing razors or toothbrushes, and getting tattoos or body piercings with needles that were not properly cleaned. The virus also can be passed from a mother to her newborn baby during delivery (perinatal transmission).
Its going to be pretty hard to get it from talking to to a person. Most people get the accute version anyway. You may have had it and never know. Its okay to want to protect your baby, but your a little over board dont you think. just educate yourself.

Hep B is not contagious just by breathing the same air. You need to check out WebMD and read up on the ways to contract it before you treat them like dirt.

go to the CDC website and learn about hepatitis b, maybe you should just be honest with this person and tell her your fears, or after you educate yourself about hepatitis b you will feel differently.

i would suggest if you're that worried talk to the person with the disease and let them know how you feel. let them know your situation with your child and him not getting his immunisation shots. I'm sure the person(s) will understand then...get your son immunized it's free at any health clinic
