I would suppose that the reception would be held at someone's home and they would have it catered. This would probably be for a very small intimate gathering.

All the answers you have received are totally wrong. A house party is not a party party. It's a person or people. For my wedding the house party was comprised of two close friends. Usually people you are close to but maybe not close enough to for a bridesmaid. The house party wears a corsage similiar in style and color as all bouquets and she typically tends the gift table or makes sure everyone signs your guest book.

or it could be the party after the reception at the couple's (or parent's) house. That is usually called an after- party though. That is only done when the reception ends before 7:00pm
