To ask questions that get answers that stuff your ego and appetite?

And is that the reason why Yahoo never choses a question from R & S to represent as among the best on the main Q and A page?

Some very clearly come to spout their own ideas and disparage everyone else's. We mostly hope those will go away.

I come here mostly because I feel I am a resource of information on topics many others do not know very much about. I was initiated as a witch in the early 1980s, and have studied many religions and traditions. Lots of these are ones that are mis-understood, and even intentionally distorted by many.

For example, the Tarot is a valuable system of symbols that many wise people have used for centuries. But certain people believe they are the work of the devil. Nonsense, say I. They are condemned by the Catholic church, and certain protestant churches, and so they are defined as evil by them, using standards that simply do not apply to others. But what they call "devil" is nothing more than "everything which is not Christian." Those of us who are not Christian obviously cannot accept that description.

So I explain myself, and try to be respectful of those who believe differently. I do, however, occasionally have trouble with those who believe in proselytizing their religion, because I am providing a different point of view to people they want to convince to their point of view. Sorry, but that's what I believe freedom of speech and freedom of religion as protected by the First Amendment are all about. If your religion is right for them, they will come to see it.

I come to R&S to "enlighten" myself and get the opinions of others.

There is a lot of BS and inflamatory behavior here and that is unfortunate. But there are a lot of good people with interestingopinions and thoughts - rather or not they agree with mine. An honest well thought out opinion that doesn't agree with your own can often help you see things in a new way.

Of course we do.

The whole purpose is to find people who agree with us to support our version of the popular fantasy.

If there is one person out of 50 who's answer agrees with us that is the answer we pick as best answer. We completely ignore the other 49 and see them as being confused.

The category is after all religion as you pointed out. The whole purpose is thinking that you are right and any one who disagrees with you is wrong.

It's how the religion game is played unless you are a Buddhist or a student of the course in miracles. They seem to be the only two that see all belief systems as being equal.

Two sane thought systems out of a thousand.

Unbelievable.

Love and blessings Don

Partly, yes. I will admit that. But the reason I came here in the first place, and what keeps me here, is a desire to understand how my neighbors think--both theists and nontheists. I generally ignore the ignorant and vitriolic responses and ponder the well thought out ones--even when they contradict my own; perhaps *especially* when they express a viewpoint different from my own.

In short, I'm here to share my opinions, hone my ability to express my own viewpoint, and learn from others.

R & S is an opportunity to enlighten people who are otherwise brainwashed. They may not hear the message now, but seeds are planted. I know what I believe and I don't need any reinforcements.

no more than you do. So far I have only asked one question in R&S. some of the answers people get are just plain stupid.
Some are as the asker wants some answers are not.

Some questions are asked to gain knowledge and some are not.

It is true...

It is true....then

God told me that Believers and Disbelievers are separated by just a very thin veil of Revelations....

Anyway, everyone expires in this physical universe so what better way to seek God for yourself once you are dead.....

I come to R&S because I cannot believe what people are actually saying back and forth about R&S......I find it very interesting.

I very rarely ask questions....and never here.

Don't you see... People come here to mock and be dumb... Not to really try to learn anything or try to understand anything...
What else would the R & S page be for???
