It means picking a theme, and then teaching content using the theme. Some examples are at the website below.

It is a research you do on a given theme, for example:
- tropical birds,
- how many people are more than 6ft high, and their percentage in population,
- who are the actors in a TV series,
- who were the only unmarried Presidents,
- etc.

it is nomally ralated with Psychology. aprojective test in which drawings of interacting prople are shown and the person being tested is asked to make up a story about them.

research that focusses on themes/main ideas or strenghts/ shortcomings etc as opposed to stylistic research whicm emphasizes style, form, structure, narrativity etc
