Chinese food, as most of us know it, is far from healthy. Many of the foods are deep fried, almost all the rest are stir fried, making chinese food very fatty. Salt is often used in overabundance. The presence of vegetables helps - but it's still far from 'diet food'.

The main problem lies in the way we consume it, however. In China, the staple of the diet has historically been rice (or grains/breads, depending on what area of the continent you're speaking of). All the yummie stuff we know as 'chinese food' has always been used in very small portions... just enough to flavor and ad interest to the rice. When eaten as such, Chinese food can provide a well-balanced diet.

When most of us eat Chinese food, however, we do exactly the opposite. We eat just enough plain rice to take the edge off the rich, fatty, salty, and sweet entrees, and invariably chow down on far too many deep-fried appetizers.

It depends what you have and how often you have it. In reality, eating too much of anything can make you fat, even healthy foods like fruit and yogurt. The thing with chinese food is in the preparation- alot of it is fried. Some options can be very healthy. They also use alot of vegetables, which is good. But you should keep in mind that you shouldn't have chinese food every day, just as you shouldn't have McDonald's everyday.

Traditional and American Chinese food will make you fat if you don't work as hard as the Chinese do. Their cuisine is primarily starch and vegetable. Meats aren't eaten as often as you would think, and the heavy sauces are also not eaten traditionally as heavy as American Chinese foods are laden with. Deep fried Chinese foods are more of a holiday treat than an everyday meal in China.

Not all Chinese meals is fats meals - however what you could have selected for a meal is. For instance - Panda Express presents Orange Chicken, and a five ounce serving (they truthfully serve up greater than that, however that's what their nutrients serving dimension is) is four hundred energy. a hundred and seventy of the ones energy come from fats - that's forty two% of the energy are coming from fats. Current instructions for humans no longer wasting weight is they eat 30% in their energy from fats over the day - so this may occasionally placed you a bit of over. The broccoli if steamed, is a well option - no fats in that. But the garlic sauce in most cases has plenty of oil in it. If it coats the broccoli - then it has oil and sugar further to it. White rice is quality - so long as you do not placed soy sauce on it, soy sauce has a ton of sodium in it. If you have been consuming at Panda Express - they've greater offerings - just like the Mushroom Chicken, a higher 6 ounce element is best one hundred eighty energy.

Sure - if you eat a lot of it.
Then again, if you eat a lot of anything, it will make you fat.

The problem with Chinese food is the heavy sauces and fried foods. That eggroll might look good, but for such a small thing, deep-frying really picks up a lot of calories in the cooking process.

Look at the options, and go for healthier choices. Stir-fries without sauce (or, light sauces) are best options, over whole grain or brown rice is best. Ask for extra vegetables, not a pile of mystery chicken meat (mystery chicken meat should be used in balance with the vegetables, not a pile of white with an occasional peapod). And, no going back for thirds if you are at a buffet!

Well, I live in china, therefore I eat chinese food regularly. Ive been here for 3 months and lost about 10 pounds since ive been here... which is a lot considering my BMI said I was in my weight range before I came. As well you rarely ever see an over-weight asian. So my theory is no, it wont make you fat. Keeping in mind that the chinese food restaurants in America are nothing like real chinese food. I havent even seen an egg roll or a chicken ball since ive been in china! ....mmmm egg roll!!!! hehe

I find most Chinese dishes to be pretty lean, although they do have one or two with loads of fatty meat, like the Babi Pangang but then all fat... but that's rare, mostly they use lean meats, lots of veggies... not fattening foods.... of course if you like it as much as I do & you eat twice as much if it as of other foods, then you may gain weight :)

Real Chinese food is not fattening. It's quite healthy. The food they serve at those Chinese restaurants and call it Chinese food is not healthy and is fattening.
