There is a crowd infront of your car impeding your progress and the prize is 100million dollars.

Do you flattened the gas pedal thus removing the obstacle or do you let the other guy do it and see his car become jammed with dismembered obstructions and you then goose it and proceed to win.

Is there another competitor that will get there first if you don't? Simply being blocked or slowed in the scenario you put out could mean the difference between winning 100 million now... and 100 million 5 minutes later.

And if there is, do the rules state first person to cross the finish line, or first car? Even if you have to cross in a car, and there are other competitors close by, they would be in the same situation and their choice would likely pay a large part in any other choices (ie, if they were to decide to wait it out...).

In the end though, anyone stupid enough to run out in the path on oncoming traffic on the incoming side of a finish line would be asking for anything and everything they got. While such a rally would generally be over public roads and people caught nearby during the proceedings that were not aware of it should probably be accorded every beneift of doubt, that would not hold true at the finish (and I would never have slowed enough in the first place to become jammed).
