My Chilean girlfriend is applying for J-! Visa (au pair). Will she have any visa problems because she has US boyfriend? Does immigration usually ask about boyfriends or people that the applicant knows in the US? Also, can anyone tell me the typical questions for this type of interview? All the question lists I find on the web relate to K-1 (marriage visas), but the J-1 questions should be considerably different.

Thanks for your comment. Can you help me to know how we can best prove that she will return? There is no chance she would stay in the US illegally, but I fear that to the consulte, it appears likely. Realistically, there is a chance at the end of the year we may apply for a K-1, but if we decide not to, I have full confidence that she would not stay in the US illegally. However, proving that is hard, and I don't know if the fact we might apply for a K-1 would also be a penalty.

There are no prescribed or typical questions. We ask whatever seems appropriate, and go on where ever the applicant's answers lead us.

What we are looking for is certainty that the visa applicant will enter and complete the J1 program and will return home at the program's end.

Yak Rider's right, assuming for sure both of you somewhat want to get married at this factor. the H1b concern isn't potential. for one concern, having left the J interest, she's no longer in status. If she's no longer in status, she will't change from one nonimmigrant status to a special even as interior the U. S.. yet, in case you marry and record the sorts 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is speaking about, she turns right into a eco-friendly card holder and get artwork authorization even as she's waiting for the cardboard.
