It sounds to me like he doesn't know what he wants. How did the vacation go? Maybe he decided he doesn't want to be married to you. It sounds like he is using his ex wives as an excuse to not be honest with you. Or it could be that he needs be reassured by you and your commitment. Sometimes if you don't give men the answers they need for security they close up and become defensive. I suggest you talk about your concern for his sudden change of heart and get to the deeper issue. He is an older man most likely he'll skip the mind games and get down to whatever his point may be. If not then don't waste your time because he might be comparing you to the woman he is currently living with and if you're not up to his standards it is important he tells you so know ones heart gets broken.

why is it not acceptable? It's only the media conditioning us to think that an older man is acceptable, but an older woman is not! You're actually very compatible since the male sex drive is at its highest, and most vigorous, in a man's 20s whereas a woman's tends to build and peak in her late thirties and 40s. So, an older woman and a younger man means fireworks in the bedroom!
Enjoy yourself, have fun. Ignore your friends, they're probably jealous!

Depends on how old you are. If your 21 and your girlfriend is 31, it's still kind of weird but it's okay. If your younger than 20 and your girlfriend is 10 years older than you, then you have a problem and it's weird. I can't say much because my fiance is 9 years older than me but we are also adults 29 and 38 so it works, depends on age and maturity. Good luck

Yes, it is. I look 10 years younger than I am and have had younger lovers. Its you who is going out with her not your friends. I can see both sides having seen it for myself. Some men can handle it some cant. Go with how she makes you feel, just dont walk away from something so good because of others opinions. Be happy

My dear Mom and Dad have passed away.
However I did not know this but there was a twelve year gap between my Mom and Dad.
OK they had their arguments at times and I have to admit there were some real loud ones at times.
But saying this they were very very close to each other.
Whether it will work is not an issue. If you both get on well and have a laugh together then why shouldn't it work.
I have to confess around ten years ago I worked with this woman.
She was stunning and she was married and I would have done anything to have my way wi her. (Even though one of my rules in life is 'don't mess around with married women')
The point I am getting to is there was 12 years between me and her and we got on like a house on fire (sadly nothing happened)

Ask yourself a question - are you happy?
If you are then tell your friends to accept it!
As long as you both are happy it doesn't matter what others think of the relationship!
The only thing to consider is that if you stay together and you get old together - she'll be older before you are - if you get my drift

If your an adult no problem. Some guys like older women. Some don't. Maybe this is the case with your friends. Use your own mind and be with whoever you want to be with. You don't need your friends permission for anything. ;o)

I knew a couple that got married and she was 22 years older than him (44/22). They've been married for 15 years on their way to forever together.

my grandmother was 11 years older than my grandad, they were married for over 60 years and were still totally in love til the day she died, so I would say yes that is good proof that it can work. I am 6 years older than my b/f and we are also happy, don't listen to your friends, who are they to tell you!

My older brother's wife is 10 years older than him. She is approaching 50. She's a lovely woman, wife and mother.
I thought she was joking when she told me how old she was! Lol.
What is important is how you both feel for each other.
