Churches of Christ. Romans 16:16 Salute one another with a holy kiss The Churches of Christ salute you.

This is the only book chapter and verse I can remember, but it is also called the Church of God. . All other places it is simply called the church or the body of Christ, or the bride of Christ..

Even with these two names, it was not establishing denominational doctrine, but simply showing that the one church belongs to Christ and God.

Biblically the church could call itself , the church of God , The bride of Christ, The body of Christ, simply just the Church, the church of Christ. Any of these are bible views.

Was and is The Holy Apostolic Catholic Church.

Scripture reveals this Church to be the one Jesus Christ built upon the rock of Saint Peter (Matt. 16:18). By giving Peter the keys of authority (Matt. 16:19), Jesus appointed Peter as the chief steward over His earthly kingdom (cf. Isaiah. 22:19-22). Jesus also charged Peter to be the source of strength for the rest of the apostles (Luke 22:32) and the earthly shepherd of Jesus' flock (John 21:15-17). Jesus further gave Peter, and the apostles and elders in union with him, the power to bind and loose in heaven what they bound and loosed on earth. (Matt. 16:19; 18:18). This teaching authority did not die with Peter and the apostles, but was transferred to future bishops through the laying on of hands (e.g., Acts 1:20; 6:6; 13:3; 8:18; 9:17; 1 Tim. 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tim. 1:6).

Not sure that it had an official name when it first started. Here's a scripture that gives some indications of how it was referred to though:

1 Cor. 1: 2
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

So it was referred to as the Church of God or the Church of Jesus Christ and its members were referred to as "saints". I wonder if it may have been called the "Church of Jesus Christ of Saints"?

Jesus said I will build MY church therefore it is the Church Of Christ.
Christ is the foundation.
Matthew 16:15-21 He (Jesus)saith unto them (disciples): But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. ( This is the ROCK---The foundation---The Truth)
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but me Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this ROCK (statement) I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it....

Jesus laid the truth (foundation) of His church., any that stray from that foundation are false teachers that are teaching false doctrines. And God says they will be accursed. ( Galatians 1:8)
