Hong Kong is going to turn away pregnant (7 months or more) women from mainland China. They come to Hong Kong because they know they can have the baby and leave without paying the bill. It's to the point where Hong Kong residents are being denied services because the maternity hospitals are full.

Hong Kong is only turning away pregnant women from mainland China. It is not racist because the people of Hong Kong and the people of China are of the same race (Chinese). Pregnant women from China are causing a lot of problems in Hong Kong and Hong Kong locals (including the pregnant women of Hong Kong) wanted something done about the many pregnant women going to Hong Kong to give birth. These people want the baby to be a Hong Kong citizen so they can enjoy Hong Kong's education, medical care, social wellfare, etc without living in Hong Kong and/or paying taxes. These pregnant women from mainland China are casuing a shortage of hospital beds and local pregnant women are not happy about it because they could not be admitted even when their due date has arrived. Also, most of these pregnant women from mainland China leave without paying their hospital bills.

How would you feel if you're from Hong Kong and all these pregnant women are coming from mainland China just to give birth, so their child can become Hong Kong citizen and can take advantage of what Hong Kong has to offer? As a Hong Kong citizen, you get education, medical care, housing, etc. Would you like it if there are all these people who did not pay taxes and did not even live in Hong Kong use your hospitals without paying and later on use what you paid for in taxes for the rest of their lives?

You have to remember that China is a country where they have forced abortions, and forced sterilizations. That isn't is as bad as what Australia did: the put all their illegal immigrants in a giant prison and didn't supply them with enough food and water (though, that was a long time ago).

It's not racist.. because they're from the same race. :-). but it would be inhuman. Many women trying to beat the HK immigration system. Hmm, I don't know which side to take though.

You haven't provided enough details to give intelligent answer. Was the woman turned away because she was pregnant or was it for other reasons and she happened to be pregnant? Additional details would be welcome.

Because it isn't racism.

That's called prejudice against pregnant women. It's illegal in our country in certain instances...
