Why set up the rule that Adam and Eve could eat of every tree but one?

Why create the tree?

(There is a theory that the gods ate from the tree of knowledge and that's how they stayed so smart but man was forbidden from eating it or something to that effect)

Why make the consequence for eating from that tree death?

Did "God" create sin by creating the rule?

Lao Tzu says that when the world sees some things as good this is bad.

Is that how "God" created evil?

I think God created evil simply by making the tree. He had the choice to give a real paradise, one in which there are no rules to break.

the theory says that God created the garden, and gave man unlimited hand in the garden other than eating the forbidden tree. The theory does not discuss God eating from the same tree...Now, i would like to give you the priviledge to see through Gods eye, if you had the power to create the world, comprehensively with the future and the past, wouldnt you be in a position to know exactly what would happen within the tick of the next second...God definately knew what options man would take and the consequencies of the same which he however gave man the options of bitting into the fruit or eating out of all the fruits and having eterninty. He did not force man to eat it, just as he does not force you to sin. And, even after eating from the tree, man did not become like God did he, i would say that everything that became known to him, was the subsequent damage to the flesh. Could be this knowledge, can be effectively sustained only in another form....God already knew the future, but it was up to man to change it with positivity...for it is only positivity that can surfice any looming perils....Man ate the fruit, and as a result, it is man who sins....God is infinitely holy, infinitely good and immeasurably generous...and so is his wrath, wisdom and love

The "laws" show man's weakness and sin. To answer your question, yes. I am becoming more and more aware of people thinking about self over whole in our society and wonder if that is what is leading to us sliding back to the level of the rest of the world. We were the strongest society in the History of the world at one time (the Roman Empire also). And now we do not produce the best products, our athletes use to be the best hands down and are not any longer (the hunger is not there), our military is the strongest and best trained but is held back into extended wars by politics (which in many ways by not going full out may actually lead to more deaths in the long run)....we do not want to follow rules we only thing about self as a whole....

I believe God created Satan who provokes people to sin or miss the mark of perfection. In this regard he is responsible for sin. He also created people who sin or miss the mark of perfection. Man is made in God's image. It is illogical to try to create logic out of any of this. How would we know? Jesus said before Abraham was, I am . We read elsewhere that Jesus learned obedience by the things he suffered. Why would Jesus need to learn obedience through suffering ? The son of god must learn to obey his Father and he was called the first of many brethren. Christians are called little Christs. Some of these questions focus on premises which are unique to your concept of the Christian God. Is sin a bad thing? Not if it brings about the realization that God should be obeyed. Remember she who is forgiven much, loves( God) much? So somehow the ability to choose to miss the mark is capable of provoking greater love for the Father or God. Who would any teacher need to give a test on any subject? How do we teach our own children as they grow? You let them make mistakes so they are confident in choosing wisely in the future as they grow into young adults. You would not give the same freedom to a toddler who might reach and touch a hot stove. It is presumption to assert that God is incapable of creating exactly what he wants because you don't understand the reasoning or see logic behind it. People are lunatics. Some are really dangerous lunatics. Where is the logic in creating that? Faith is not logic. It is faith. We go go off on an inane discussion about why the manufacturers of Jones soda chose to use photographs and why since no photographs on the bottle probably would not have effected product sales. Weren't they foolish to go to all that trouble? Well, we don't know really if the photographs add to the marketing value. There is no way to study this or perform the research. The same is true of this question. How many angels can dance on the head of a pinhead? I guess we will never really know.

In a sense yes. God could have just as easily created us to be fully obedient, didn't need to give us something that could encourage us to disobey, but He didnt, why? I believe it's because He wanted us to consciously choose or reject Him. Can love be true when there are no other options? Does peace mean the same thing, if everything is always peaceful? Can we learn to help eachother if none of us struggle? How could we appreciate what is good if we are never exposed to bad? I think all these things and more, factor into why God chose to give us free will.

Well, sin is for people who are sinless but for people who are living into it is a sin no more.... kidding only. :o)

The tree has many meaning to other people... the root, the trunk, the fruit and others, and as I mentioned them, their meaning flashes by. So, the tree as given, is a life and the fruit is its copy in its primitive form. What ever its outcome, will be. So, there we are about tree. It is the tree that is desirable because it has the fruit.

But God, made some rules to follow and if you did not obey it, it may mean something else but as it is, it becomes sin.

And in the the Glory of God, there is no sin but rules to follow which is 'the light.' Know what I mean? To erase the 'darkness', we need it to cast light into it to glow.

Peace.

Satan is the author of sin. God set boundaries for Adam and Eve. I cannot explain why God put the tree of good and evil in the garden except to say that it had to exist in order to provide balance in God's overall plan. Everything that is contained in the Old Testament is there to lead up to the coming of Christ in the New Testament. Evil had to be in the world in order for Christ to come and fulfill his mission. In God's infinite wisdom this is the way he saw fit to establish things. Forget this idea of multiple gods---that's mythology which has no foundation in truth. Chinese philosophy sounds good on the surface, but it has no depth to it, meaning it comes to no conclusion. Salvation must always be the conclusion of any sound system of philosophy, and if Christianity can be termed as philosophy (which I think that it can be if presented in the right way) then Christianity is the only true philosophy because only Christianity includes a logical end for believing in it. All other systems end with death, whereas Christianity goes on indefinitely for the believer. As far as the consequence for disobedience, death is the only logical conclusion. There is life and there is death, but nothing in between. Forget purgatory---it ain't in the Bible.

Ultimately, there is not an answer to these questions that we can fully comprehend. We, as finite human beings, can never fully understand an infinite God (Romans 11:33-34). Sometimes we think we understand why God is doing something, only to find out later that it was for a different purpose than we originally thought. God looks at things from an eternal perspective. We look at things from an earthly perspective. Why did God put man on earth knowing that Adam and Eve would sin and therefore bring evil, death, and suffering on all mankind? Why didn’t He just create us all and leave us in Heaven where we would be perfect and without suffering? The best answer I can come up with is this: God didn’t want a race of robots who did not have a free will. God had to allow the possibility of evil for us to have a true choice of whether to worship God or not. If we never had to suffer and experience evil, would we truly know how wonderful heaven is? God did not create evil, but He allowed it. If He hadn’t allowed evil, we would be worshipping Him out of obligation, not by a choice of our own free will.

He created sin not by creating the rules but by creating rules that were in direct contradiction to the instincts that he gave us. He made us a curious species so we could develop, learn and advance and then creates rules that says there are things we are directly forbidden to know, such as the tree. He made us a species with a strong sexual urge, like all his creations,so that we could multiply and prosper and then supposedly demanded that we constantly stifle that urge and filter it through a long list of dictates and restrictions. The list goes on and on but that's it in a nutshell as I see it,if of course you believe that sort of thing. Not to mention the question remains as to why he released a being who is arguably the second most powerful and influencial being into the universe into the Garden to tempt his most ignorant naive creation in the first place. If he knows everything then he knows that he in fact orchestrated the fall of mankind.

Perhaps they were both in existence together. Creating the tree was simply creating a portal so that his creation could see the opposing side, perhaps.
I honestly do not know.
If this was true, then still, why would God expose his humans to such a thing?

God didn't create sin or evil but He created people with a choice thus he created the potential of evil and sin but also the potential of good and love. This is the price God chose to pay for true love.
