I don't like egg noodles-- I prefer wide, chewy ones.. but they must also be "comforting" in the soup... Thanks!

Rotini is a good noodle. The spirals hold the sauce and bits of chicken and veggies in pretty good. And it looks fun. My kids love Chicken noodle soup made with rotini.

I think the best thing in chicken soup are dumplings, not noodles. They are easy, cheap, and have a nice bite to them.

In a bowl, mix:
About 8 or 10 c. mashed potatoes
5 eggs
Flour, enough to roll
Salt to taste

Roll the mix into dumplings - 1"x2" is a nice dumpling size. Drop them into the chicken broth when the other ingredients are already in. The dumplings will float when they are done.

There is a product call "No Yolks" egg noodles which are thick and homey in a chicken soup. They aren't "really egg noodles" because they don't contain the egg yolks hense the name :-)

Well, I always use egg noddles. My suggestion would be to go to the local store and look at all the different noodles. If your pasta isle is anything like ours here, I'm sure you will have plenty to choose from...lol

Muellers makes one that actually says "Extra Wide" on the bag. It does not come in a box. It's absolutely perfect for chicken soup. When fully cooked in the soup, they end up being approx. 1.5"x2.0" squares almost. Love 'em.

The no yolk noodles are the best. There are found in the freezer isle. By far the best.
