I haven't done anything specific to my foot but it has been sore for a few days now and it especially hurts today. The pain is on the bottom front, the cushy section under my toes. It sort of feels like a bruise would feel but because it has all my weight on it when I walk its very painful. What the heck happened and should I wait a couple days and see what happens or go to the doctor?

Sounds like you may have Metatarsalgia. Don't worry it's nothing serious. I have this condition and found excercise, physio, and a good pair of shoes have helped. You may want to check out this website for more information.

Did you recently (within the last week) go walking, hiking, etc. and were loose-fitting shoes or soft soled shoes? Sometimes, if you aren't wearing sturdy shoes and walk or run more or faster than usual, you can "bruise" the bottom of your feet. You don't have to be running a marathon for this to happen. It has happened to me a few times and it is very painful. If there is no indication of infection (feels hot to the touch, has an open wound that is inflamed or has discharge) and the pain is not a searing or stabbing pain, if it were me, I would probably soak it in warm water with Epsom salts (works great in a bath after a workout too) a couple times a day and avoid overusing the foot. If you do have to use it, then make sure it is well supported with good shoes. If it is caused by the above reason, it should get better in a few days. If it gets worse or shows no improvement, then I would have it checked out. Hope you feel better!

See a doctor esp. if it continues hurting. See a foot specialist, not a regular. Most regular physicians will just prescribe for pain not treat the root or what could be causing the problem. Hope it gets to feeling better!

You may have a problem with the nerve. I had the same problem and ended up going to an orthopedic surgeon. The nerve was crushed and causing pain. They can give you a shot to see if that will correct it and if that doesnt correct it completely they can do surgery and cut the nerve - your toe will be forever numb if they do the surgery, but the pain will be gone. Hope this helps...

I'd try to stay off of your feet as much as possible. Yeah, I think you should wait a few days to see what happens, but if the pain is so unbearable that you can't walk on it at all, then you should definitely see a doctor.

Are you wearing new shoes or shoes that you haven't worn in a while? Give it 2-3 days, if it still hurts, go see your doctor.
