I have one too,
and dispite what some people are saying you should NEVER hit/bash it (especially not with a bible!).
If you do this it will not rid of the fluid, just spread it, and it will eventually come back again. Oh and hurt like hell.
You just need to live with it, if its not too big, or if its bad/painful you will need to have it drained.
I have one, but it seems to come and go.

As suggested an operation will get rid of it or it can be drained or the best thing to do is leave it alone as it is benign.

Mine has been with me for years does not hurt just looks abit odd well as it resides on the back of my wrist really I do not know why it should worry me as no other person can see it doh.

May your and your ganglion continue unless you feel you want rid of it.

To TRULY remove it you must have it surgically excised for it to be permanent. If you (or anyone else) only attempts to aspirate (drain) it, it will only refill with time. The entire capsule that surrounds the cyst needs to be excised to prevent it from coming back in the future. It can be done under I.V. sedation with an axillary (under-the-arm) block. Takes only a few minutes. I had mine done in an "out-patient" surgery-center facility...I also work for a surgeon.
The old wives tale is (if it's on the top of your wrist) you can have someone smack it with a book...this was supposed to crush the cyst and appeared to make it "go away". Like I said though, if you don't remove the capsule, it will eventually return.

A "ganglion" is a bundle of nerves--if you are having trouble with that in your wrist, SEE A DOCTOR! That's a primary symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome--a condition that can be disabling--and permanantly so--if not treated.

My doctor told me to hit with the family bible! Personally mine went pop when I jumped on a shopping trolley to zoom along the aisle - I was 26 at the time! The force of my hand flicking back squashed it and it popped. Unbelievable relief as it went as well!

I had one years ago. One doctor suggested hitting it with a large heavy book.
Eventually I had surgery under general anaesthetic to remove it, but I was let out the same day.

can't cure it. you can bust it by slamming it maybe between two books (having someone else do it for you). or if you go to the doctor he will drain it, but it will come back either way hope this helps

I had one years ago and the dr hit it with a book, he never warned me at all - I was in so much pain afterwards and shocked but it disappeared.

Traditionally you whack it with a bible in modern day terms I think surgery is a option if it's painful
