My 4 year old son has trouble gaining weight no matter what foods or nutritional drinks I give him. There is only so much of his favorite foods I can give him. He is a picky eater at times so it is hard to get him to eat what he should. I just don't know what to give my son to eat any more. He loves any pasta especially with sauce or grated cheese. I don't know what other meats to give him as he isn't a big meat eater other than hot dogs or chicken nuggets or tacos. any other choices or suggestions?

Leave him alone!! He eats when he is hungry and he eats what he wants to eat. My mother-in-law did the same thing you are doing and my husband now weighs well over 300 lbs. He was a fairly slender child until around 8 or 9 years of age, then he started gaining & gaining & he hasn't stopped yet!!! Please, for his sake, leave him alone as far as eating goes. Talk to his doctor if you are worried!
Both of our daughters didn't eat very much until they were 8 or 9 years old but they are both fine now~18 & 20!

I want to add that my husband has had back & knee problems most of his life. Then in early to mid 40's, he had triple by-pass surgery on his heart. So please quit pushing food at your son, and ESPECIALLY not fatty foods or things high in sugar. If you feel that you must push food on him~make it healthy food!! To this day, my mother-in-law pushes Bad food(cakes, cobblers, pie-ala-mode, fried foods & even sugared veggies) at him and then bi_ches about his weight!!
So please stop now, before you may fall into that habit with your son!

You don't say how tall your son is or how much he weighs. He may be right on target and only seem "skinny" because other kids are overweight. First, I'd talk to the nurse at your doctor's office (or any office) and get a growth chart. Make sure he's getting all the milk and grains he needs each day. Then, I'd continue to feed him nutritious foods for his three meals a day and at least two snacks. You can find lots of great ideas for fun food ideas online. He may just have a high metabolism as my son does.

It seems like he is wary of him and you may never know the reason behind it. Is he wearing a backpack or hat when he comes home. Maybe he is wearing something that makes him look different than the other times he sees him. Where did you adopt it from? Is there a shelter or humane society that may have some resources to help you? Sometimes it can take months for a dog to trust someone they are wary of. The best thing for him to do is let the dog approach him on the dog's terms and not force him to deal with him when he is being grouchy.

I have a daughter that has problem gaining weight as well. Some of the ideas doctors have given me(and yes some sound really bad) Add butter to his meals, add safflower oil to his meals, they also make powdered calorie enhancer just for that reason(can't remember the name of it so you might want to do an internet search you can add it to food or drink without affecting the taste) and also let him eat all the fatty junky foods if he will.

Leave him be. Just let nature do what has to be done. If you get him in the habit of eating allot, he will be in bad shape later in life. He has a high metabolism now. Just let him be.
