Why is it that residents of Ohio are so disturbed by inhaling ciggerette smoke that smokers now have to walk 30 feet away from any building to burn one down, but yet they don't give a damn about all the pollutants that their cars are putting into the atmosphere. Which are much more deadly and than a second hand ciggerette. I mean if you locked yourself in your garage you could live for years puffing on ciggerettes, but you would be dead in minutes from all the hydrocarbons, NO2 and CO that your cars more than likely produce?

Because we live in a victim culture were everyone deserves to oppress someone else to feed their health fetish. It is much easier to tell some one else to change their behavior and then smugly sit back and pat yourself on the back for "making a difference" than it is to actually change something yourself or your own behavior. Telling some one that they can fix the environment by telling some one that they cannot do something that they do not like anyway is a much easier sell than telling some one that they have to give up their car or ride a bike.

I think it has to do with the fact that most people DONT smoke, therefore they are not CHOOSING to breathe in the toxins. But a lot of people drive, so they are involved in making the decision to pollute. Also, lung cancer is a scary disease.
