I have never really flossed and the dentist told me I needed to start. I agree and want to start but every time I have, I've slacked and quit flossing. I am commited to flossing this time so what steps can I do to make sure that I follow through?

Well i keep a list of all the things i want to accomplish in my day. When i wanted to floss i put floss on my list everday, and when i looked at it i made sure i did it and then checked it off my list. After a while it will become a habit, and you wont have to put it on your list.

If the dentist said it was time to start, then you may have problems about to arise. My suggestion is somewhat simple, do it at night, after brushing and right before bed, while watching tv, or waiting for the dog to come back in. Something you can put in your nightly routine to make it a habit. Also, try using flavored floss, it helps if you like the taste of what your doing, while your doing it. Good luck!

Try the floss from Glide! It's plenty thinner and smoother. My BF has the identical main issue with floss cuz his enamel are fairly near in combination. He makes use of Glide and it is helping plenty. As for creating a dependancy, I'm no longer too definite. Sometimes I have the dependancy, different instances I do not. What is helping goes to the dentist and having them yell at me for no longer flossing. Lol. Sometimes I'll ensure to floss BEFORE I brush given that whilst you floss it makes plenty of gross stuff pop out, so I like to comb all of it away while it is out. Also, I can oftentimes be OCD approximately whatever I might think among my enamel, so I'll randomly begin flossing them oftentimes. Lol.

The only way I could train myself to floss regularly was to buy 2 packs of Plackers brand flossers.
I kept one pack in my car and flossed on my way to and from work. I left them in plain view, so I'd see them and remember to floss. I kept another pack by my bed. When I was winding down in the evening, I would look at them and remember to floss.
Best of luck to you!

Look at your teeth and say is that what I want to look like? I had the same problem and went to the dentist. $4000.00 later I decided to floss.

I have the same problem. I try to make it as routine as brushing my teeth. Put the floss beside your toothbrush to remind you.

first you need to have "commitment" a promise that you will really do it. that's good you said you're commited
>next you have to have time to do it. and focus that you will really do it!
>make sure you will not miss to do flossing..
>it's just like making a new year's resolution.
>say to youself: i can do it!

Try buying one of those Reach brand handle flossers. They have disposable floss heads and are easy to use. You can also buy small flossers to carry with you.
