If something is perfect, are you not content with it as well? Then again, are you talking about a mass 'perfection' or a personal perfection.
In some ways, they are the same, for if the individual elements are in harmony, then the piece is in harmony. Which, theoretically means that if you are not content, then the system which you inhabit is not content. And if the system is not content, then it is not in harmony.
It's not just does the immortal sould desire perfection but what is 'perfection' to the soul? How can one hope to find something that one has no idea to look for? Imagine, if you will, looking for the 'perfect' setting. For it to be perfect means it must satisfy some pre-established condition that makes it 'different' from every other 'imperfect' setting. While it does not mean that you necessarily HAVE to travel in order to find the setting, it does mean that it is possible that the setting is in a place seperate from where you are now.
If 'Chicago' is your idea of perfection, and you live in Chicago, you have no need to travel to find it. However, if you live in Seattle, only by traveling to Chicago do you 'realize' the perfection that you were seeking.
Before you can 'seek' perfection, pefection must exist, so that it's lack of presence causes you to find it.To seek an answer means that the answer must exist, maybe even before the question is formed. The question and the answer exist simultaneously to each other.

Who said the soul is immortal? The Bible, at Ez. 18:4, 20 says the soul can die. It says "the soul that is sinning, it itself will die."

If perfection is attainable then so be it. Unified with the Absolute Self, all things are simplified...

That depends on what non-Christian religion you belong to, since the Bible teaches that the soul dies with the body.
