It's perfectly acceptable for someone to pray during a free moment at school. It is not acceptable for prayer to be sponsored or required or led by the school (ex. over the PA), nor is it acceptable for prayer to interfere with the curriculum.

Any individual is free to pray at anytime they choose. Freedom of Religion is a personal choice. It would not be right to try and prevent an individual from praying on their own. The same goes the other way. Organized pray in a public school is not now allowed and should not be as again praying is a personal choice.

Also if a student, during individual free time (ie reading time) chooses to read the Bible, that should never be disallowed as long as the person is not pushing it onto others. In schools and others locations, we are taught to be tolerant of others and accept their differences (ie. on gay student has a right not to be harassed) and these individual choices need to be protected.

It depends on whether it is a secular or a religious school and whether the teacher is leading the prayer or not. If it's a religious school, that's the whole point of the school. If it's a secular school, students are allowed to pray on their own whenever they feel the need. The only ban on prayer in a secular school prevents any of the teacher or administration from leading prayer, because this endorses one religion over others.

Depends, do you mean student-prompted prayer that is student lead in such a way that it is not imposed on others? This would include a person quietly bowing their head to pray to their deity before a test or a group of students getting together during lunch someplace and quietly holding a prayer meeting, or a group of teachers out of view of the students. If so, then it is perfectly alright.

The moment it becomes public to the point where others are forced to endure it even if they don't hold to those religious beliefs, or, a school employee is leading the prayer, then it becomes wrong in the extreme.

As long as it's not an organized thing where the teacher stands in front of the room and tells everyone to pray, it's all right. If you want to do it privately, that's fine and I doubt anyone has a problem with that.

It's not wrong it just makes no sense. Observance of religion should be done in the home and a house of worship. It's like asking if religious praying should be done on the subway, or in a public restroom, or on a football field, etc.

as long as you are not trying to force others to pray to there is nothing wrong with it. prayer is personal and no one has the right to tell you that you cant pray while you are at school. you have the right to pray anywhere you want. you are not hurting anyone so dont worry about it.

I would think that if one felt compelled to pray anywhere, religious praying would be the way to go Non-religious praying seems an act of futility.

There is nothing wrong or illegal about someone praying in school. What is wrong is it being done as a group and/or led by a teacher or other authority.

I'm not even sure how anyone could argue for religion in schools unless they happen to be religious already and simply want the school to accommodate their lifestyle.
