You don't normally clean yourself in the presence of others, so why should you pick your nose. Next thing you'll be saying it's alright to scratch your bottom in full view of everybody with no concern for their feelings on the subject.

Because it's not an effective way to clean one's nose, even technically.
Besides, there's a time and place for everything. Do your nose picking at home.

Some kids are nasty and they will pick their noses and touch something, it will be really gross if you were looking for something and searching around with your hands and stumble upon a nasty booger. Or have guest over your house and they see a nasty booger on your tv, etc. So therefore to keep from experincing these nasty situations you tell your kids off for picking their noses.
If they want to clean their noses recommend tissue.

I think that most people pick their noses at one time or another. They don't like the fact that they do it and they try to stop theiur kids from doing it because it will reflect badly on them if 'granny' sees them. I remember a rhyme from my childhood on the subject -
He's doing it, he's doing it,
He's picking his nose and chewing it!
It's a pretty harmless occupation, but perhaps one best done in private.

it may be a form of cleaning yourself as is scratching your bum, if i could use the comparison but, its not the sort of thing one does in public. if u are going to pick noses, try using a hanky.

I would only "tell them off" if they did it in public. Picking their nose in private is fine. As long as they wash their hands after.

The mucus in the nose is by products of the body so should be cleaned same way we clean our bottoms- with a tissue. Avoid germs transfer!!!

Because one is better to not clean self in the presence of others. Nose or other places.

A lot of people consider cleaning oneself in public is rude!!!! What u do behind closed doors is up to u.

Well maybe it is a way of cleaning oneself, but would you strip naked in the street to have a bath, thought not, there are times and places to clean oneself and doing it in public isn't one of them.
