I think what you need is to take more exercise.
Seriously, it will release endorphins which will make you feel better, you'll have more energy, and you'll feel up to getting a more interesting job which will give you something to strive towards.
As for diagnosing - your brother isn't qualified (nor am I, and I actually graduated in Psychology), so get a doctor's advice instead - if s/he refers you, then yes you would be entitled to it.
And if you also want careers counselling, rather than psychologiocal counselling, most Unis have that available to past graduates - get in touch with their careers office.

My family also said I wasn't depressed. I finally had enough of feeling crappy every single day so I went to see a therapist on my own. Lo and behold - a diagnosis! I wasn't exactly happy with the fact that I had depression, but at least it's a reason for feeling the way I do. I saw my therapist once a week and tried behavioral modification therapy before going on medication. I highly recommend doing that. A good therapist will listen to you and will never turn you away. Believe me, even knowing I had that one hour to talk about what was bothering me helped a lot. Now I'm pregnant and can't take my Lexapro anymore, but the lessons I learned in therapy are definitely helping me. You don't have to live feeling miserable all the time!

I am not a professional but I have struggled with depression off and on. Sometimes loved ones and friends don't want to believe that someone they care about is struggling with this. I am not saying you have depression but it is worth talking to a doctor or Therapist about. I know when I was very depressed nothing seemed to matter. I had low energy, I was tired and felt physically ill with headaches, upset stomach and muscle aches and pains. I was not interested with hobbies or work. I did not feel happy or content. I was restless and just didn't feel right. If I were you I would talk with a professional (someone not related to you) and see what they have to say. It is worth a try!

Every person is "entitled" to counseling. You do sound like you are depressed and it would probably do you some good to see a counselor. However, it can be difficult to find the right one for you. Besides counsel ling for depression, it sounds like you could do with a bit of life coaching, so you can start to plan a better future for yourself. Having low energy and trouble relating to people and no motivation to change your job will not get better on their own. Ultimately, you have to grab yourself on your own power and decide to change your life. Having just finished university is a perfect time to make big changes in your life. I bet you have tons of potential if you could find the confidence to really be the best you could be. Good luck and go talk to a supportive counselor and life coach.

Any time you are having problems like this you can go see a doc and get help. This is what these docs do for a living. Ask your family doc for a good physical with blood work to rule out a medical cause and then ask for a referral to a therapist.

personally, i think you should go see someone! they;re definitley not gonna turn you away. if you're unhappy and have all this stuff going on in your head, then maybe they could help straighten it out for you.
if your folks give you a hard time about it, go without them knowing, for the first few sessions at least! or call samaritans, that way you're not committing to anything, but getting expert opinion.
good luck, life after uni does suck!

YES absolutely you should get some counseling...everyone needs some help sometimes (in one way or another)...those who seek help do better and get better than those who go it alone. Theres nothing wrong with you!! It sounds to me like your a little depressed, and could benefit from counseling.

You have symptoms of depression, and should see a doc and get treated for it. You are one of the lucky ones that are smart enough to know there is a problem and want to seek help.

you seem to be of above average intelligence and spend too much time endlessly analysing your own state of mind. Or should that be ANALysing?
What you are feeling is perfectly normal but a chat with your doctor might help. And that guy who suggested exercise was making a good suggestion. Get out into the fresh air instead of sitting in front of THIS damn thing. Get into situations where you meet other humans and have to communicate with them in a random way.
Don't worry you sound to me like a perfectly normal and intelligent young man.
