On thing to do is think about the reverse of the situation. Put yourself in the partner's shoes. How would you feel that someone has fallen in love with your significant other?
If he is someone that you truely care about, respect him and be his friend. If the partnership does not last and you still feel the same and do not have a partner then things could be different, but do not stop looking for someone/dating just to wait. It's not healthy. If it is too painful, then walk away and cherrish the good talks and laughs that you shared.

from that point on keep your distance from that person, and explain to them why, and they should understand, I'm going thru the exact same thing right now It's hard but think about it this way your saving yourself the pain and heartache of loving that person but can't be with them, you should try and find someone else who's available and maybe if this person breaks up with whomever they are with then maybe you guys can give it a go, which is why you should make sure you tell them that if they ever do break up with this person hopefully you guys can give it a go, but for now try and keep your distance from this person and maybe even move on it's for the best right now.

You don't deal with it. Just move on. Next time you start communicating with someone, just make sure you ask if they're in a relationship or not. It will save you a lot of time and headaches. Good luck next time.

Bow out; she is already taken.
Don't make a fool out of yourself and cause problems now. Who knows? She may be free later; that would be the time to make your move.

you move on to someone who does want a relationship and is faithful, i don't go for the ones who are willing to jump from one person to the next, i like long term and commitment.
