The Burkini is the new bathing outfit for Muslim women. For those who wanna see a picture, I only have a Dutch article about it, sorry for that, but the picture is right below the article:

Anyway, I truly like the idea, and it looks nice. I was just wondering about your thoughts on it.

I love the name of that newssite... Dutch is such a cool language!

I saw the Burkini on TV last night. I've seen similar things before, but the question is whether or not it fits the definition of 'modesty'. To some Muslims, even a woman's curvature should be hidden. I'm not sure if people following that definition could wear it.

But it looks relatively comfortable. I say go for it if it floats your boat.

My wife wears a bikini on the beach and it doesn't make her any less of a Muslim than anyone else.

It's as ridiculous as the islamic religion that led to it, but it's a sight better than the option.

A few years ago, an Indonesian ferry capsized, and rather than do the smart thing and take off their veils and shed weight that eventually drowned them, muslim women were more concerned about obeying religious claptrap than about saving their own lives.

I'm not saying women will wear a "burkini" on a ferry, but the danger from drowning the women face on a beach will be less than by wearing loose cloth that soaks up water.

But really, what hardcore nutball muzzle 'em - oops, muslim - male is going to let a woman wear tight leggings like those? If they're arrogant enough to force women to cover up from head to toe, I highly doubt they'd let them wear something so tight.

The women might as well be wearing dive skins, it looks the same. (A dive skin is a spandex catsuit worn for warmth or protection instead of heavier neoprene. Look it up.)

The only advantage to this (and why it might spread to use by all women) is better coverage against the sun as the ozone layer shrinks.

I saw an advertisement - oops, "news" item - for this on CNN so it wasn't news to me. (On the linked page, I like the "teletubbies" comparison....)

I saw your posted link, and think they are pretty ridiculous. They kind of look like those kids pajamas without the bunny feet

Whatever floats your boat, so to speak.

Looks awkward to swim in.
