Yes, they will respire, until the oxygen in the can is used up. However, seeds that are dry will have a very low metabolic rate and therefore will not be respiring very much.

Pierian's answer is correct. And is also the reason that there are no seeds obtained from an Egyptian tomb that were still alive after 5,000 years, planted, and grew. That's hogwash 101 like an Urban Legend -- just bunk.

seeds are not any organism which needs respiration.

so the question of respiration doesn't arises???

then what are seeds???

well they may thought upon as undeveloped creature which r waiting for the right conditions( warm n moist) to sprout out.

Do you mean "expire", "get old", "terminate", become "barren".

I believe the answer is yes. They are less likely to germinate the older they are.
