If you are a beginner in the exercise world Curves is a great place to start. It's nice having just women around. They are supportive and fun. You can change up your program by doing different things on the jumping mats, work as hard or as little as you want. After I while I did find myself wanting more and getting bored but for a beginner it's great.

I went to Curves for a year and got extremely bored very fast. I also hurt my neck and my knees. I have known other women who have severely damaged their knees & hurt their lower backs. I did lose a couple of inches & pounds the first month but plateaued after that & got no where.

I personally do not like the program. I think rushing through the resistance machines then cooling down on the mats is backwards. Exercise is supposed to be done with slow deliberate movements not rushed through 30 seconds of "do as many as you can". Also, if you are older....getting on and off the machines eats up a good portion of the 30 seconds alloted on the machine.

Join a gym. Get someone to make you up a personal workout routine that would most benefit your body. Everyone is different so going to a place where everyone does the same thing may not do it for you.

I used to go with my mom (i'm 22), I would say it would work out great for ladies a little older like late 20's and up.

The concept is great...you are at a station for a certain time period. You get to work out all sorts of your body...in about 30 minutes. Another thing that i also like was that it was for women only.
