You need to have a one on one conversation with your mother - if she's not willing to listen and you cannot agree on a better life then remind her that you always have DSS to turn to. The thought of being investigated will snap her back into reality.

When DSS steps in you will have two choices outside of living with other family members: You can be emancipated or go into a foster home.If you are emancipated you will need to work and support yourself, possibly with some welfare help. I would prefer to do that than go into a foster home.

If you have any older friends that need roommates it's an easier way to go. Wait tables at night, finish high school (do well) and immediately sign up for college and financial aid.

The sad part is leaving behind younger siblings, but social services has got to step in - right now. You are of the age that YOU can make a life for YOURSELF and will need to take control. Otherwise you will struggle the rest of your life.

I am proud of you for being 16 and realize that your mother is not living her best life - it shows that you are already an amazing person. Go get yours and good luck to you.

I feel sorry for you, but at least you realize that life can be better than this. Is there another stable family member you can live with? If there is you can talk to your mom tell her that it is hard for you do your schoolwork, that family member _____ lives in a better school district or that you will have better opportunities there. Ensure your mom that you love her and don't want to leave but you think that if you are able to live with ______ she won't have you to worry about and she can get back on her feet. Good Luck!!!

Well not to be rude but its made not maid honey, and I do think you have a right to say so, if it is that bad you can always go to childrens services and tell them, you could also get a good job after school, and do the whole "divorce" your parents, and live on your own, but that is usually extreme cases where that happens. Do you have a good friend who you could stay with maybe?

That's probably the best that she can do right now. Sometimes you have to go through tough times, but I'm sure it will get better. You're almost 18 so even if it doesn't improve you can go off to college, get an education and start taking care of yourself.

In some states, ( don't know if u have a job or not) if u can prove to a judge that you can provide for yourself, they will grant you emancipation which technically means you r your own guardian. Without the emancipation it will be hard for u to find your own place or do everyday things that an adult can do. Hope this helps

Where will you go? Try to hang on a little longer...2-3 years longer to graduate I assume. Mention it to your mom but don't act upon it alone, better to get consent from your mother...as it always hurts when your child says "I am leaving." I'm sure if you find a decent proposal, she would be more than happy to make sure you live a little more comfortably.

At 16 you have every right to live in a better environment. Any other options though?

OK that sucks. If you can support yourself and are not in any trouble, most states have a povision to become an "emancipated minor". this just means that you are responsible for yourself. If you don't have a means to make it finacially or you are in trouble, you're out of luck.

You sound like a perfect candidate to get pregnant and marry young.
I would look into a career in the armed forces.
