I have mild acne, blackheads etc and for couple of weeks have been drinking minimum 2 litres of water a day as I know this is supposed to help clear your skin - but I've just had a new breakout of spots even though I'm doing this - is this because when the water is flushing out all the toxins it brings them to the surface before working underneath and then my skin will start to clear up or is it just not working?

I use facewash for spot-prone skin and also eat very healthily, no takeaways or greasy food

its not just water that helps spots, try clearskin face wash and toner(its ok for men to use this stuff) or teatree gentaly dabbing it with cotton wool. it will sting a little but it will clear them up. remember with tea tree when your acne goes away dont carry on using it as your skin will get used to it and the dirty bacteria in your skin will get used to it and will know how to battle it from when you come to use it again.

vitamins and minerals are best for skin, but also its all to do with hornmones too

Yes you are correct. The skin will get worse then it will clear up. The water is clearing all the toxins from your body. The face is usually where they come through. keep up the water and make sure you are cleansing the face at least twice a day. using mild cleansers. don't scrub your face or this may cause the spread of the acne.

Remember it will take time. Some people it could take up to a year to clear the acne. keep up the water and watch your diet and what foods or stresses cause you to have more break outs..

Drinking 2 litres of water a day is a good start, however eating take away food isn't. There are more chemicals in a portion of KFC than I care to mention.
Diet is also a contributing factor as to how your skin looks. Make sure you are eating at least 5 portions of fresh fruit and veg a day and cut down on the E-numbers and additives.
I recommend drinking 2-3 cups of Nettle tea a day as well, as this will help to flush the toxins out of your system.

I think you have been well hydrating yourself, but you need to take the next step and make sure to you use astrigent, proper facial moisturizers, and other skin ointments.

Hydration becomes a huge issue when you start tanning. That's the time you have to a drink additional water to help moisturization from the inside-out. Although some people think you can dry out acne with tanning which can be true, but you cause more acne by having too dry of skin and causing your skin to overproduce bad oils.

It does help, however acne is different... some people can't get rid of the damned things, and the doc's maybe able to help but then again maybe not, but with the water it is a good start and maybe just wash you face with plain old soap and water instead of products that may help oil go back in to the skin after cleansing... i don't know why i don't trust those products (even though i use them myself teehee) because they seem to leave my face just as oily... talk to your doc they may know how to get rid of the acne (even if it is only mild)

Water is great for your body, but as far as it clearing your skin that is not a good remedy. Water just hydrates your skin as well as your cells, it help rejuvenate them and you basically urinate you impurities. Washing your face twice a day with a good cleanser and toner...such as neteragena helps and using benzloy peroxide on your acne will help. Unfortunately....genetics, stress, and hormones that are unbalanced are the major lead to breakouts.

Your doing all the right things, but I would see your gp about the acne as they maybe able to prescripe something for this. (acne is caused by extra oil secretions and is hard to get the right balance of treatment for some patients) As for the blackheads - the way to get rid of them is to put your head over a hot bowel for as long as you can stand (10 minutes tops), and put a towel over your head - when done close the pores up with cold water.

I never had acne but the water i not going to help CLEAR the acne. Water is good for your general health. I always washed with a mild face wash and thereafter dab BRANDY on my face with cotton wool. The brandy does not dry out the skin, but helps to get rid of inpurities and therefore will help with the bleack heads and acne. been doing it for 30 years!!!!!!! Works well!!!!!!!!!!!

Continue drinking your water.

Also try Proactive. I saw it on Tv and it is supposed to help people with skin problems.

I would recommend mixing a little (1 tables spoon) of apple cider vinegar with your water (once daily--don't erode your teeth) and that will help clear up your skin faster.

everything takes time. water is helpful, but your skin needs more things than just water. also, it takes time to feel that way. drinking water is good for body too, and keep doing it.

good skin rule
1) no sleep late, sleep at least 8 hours
2) more fruit and less meat. fruit have fruit acid, and it can make your skin healthy.
3) wash your face only morning and night, and not very often.
4) well quality of skin care is very important, and it has to be oil free and no chemical things
5) if you have make-up, please make sure you use make-up remover, and remove make-up before sleep.
