the only diff betw one and the other is that you don't add rum to one. the recipe is the same, otherwise.

-Sweetened coconut milk (coco lopez), frozen (it's a small blue can... make sure it's the sweetened, thicker one.... not the stuff you use in thai cooking.
-Pineapple juice.
-Chunks of frozen pineapple, slightly defrosted.
-Ice.
-Put in blender. Garnish with pineapple and maraschino cherries, and of course a little umbrella!!

Here is the official Mr Boston recipe:
3 oz rum
3 oz coconut milk
3 tbls crushed pineapple
Put 2 cups crushed ice into blender, add mixture, blend. Strain into glass and serve with straw.

Another option:
in the frozen food section where you'd find frozen OJ and frozen lemonade there are these Bacardi drink mixers. They are delicious. As is, we serve them to the kids. For grownups, we add the alcohol. Easy, yummy. (they get expensive for large amounts, though....)

Just use the same ingredients to make pina coladas or any other mixed drink, but without the alcohol. They will taste practically the same, especially if normally made with vodka, which has no taste. For drinks made with rum, just substitute rum flavoring. Why not ask the local bartender what he or she uses to make the pina coladas, and use the same ingredients minus the alcohol.

Sweetened Coconut (canned) paste.
(comes in a small can like condensed milk.)
Pineapple juice (large can)
Ice
Mix 1/3 can coconut, 1/2 can pineapple juice, and ice in a blender
mix. add Ginger ale if you want .
Pour into a 16 ounce glass. (3/4 full)
For alcoholic add a shot of rum, or vodka to the mixture above.

for the nonalcoholic use pineapple juice and coconut cream. for the alcoholic one just add your favorite mixer!
