Do something with your child, or throw them a few cardboard boxes and a couple markers....

I went and bought one of the interactive TV things...for my kids i got the Vtech Vsmile baby....goes from 9 months to 3 years. My twins are currently 2 1/2 years old. They really like TV so i bought this. Its educational and they love it. They still get "TV" but they also are seeing shapes, numbers colors ect.....i know they make these for older kids as well. 3-6 years old is the next step up from the system i have. Also i allow 1 cartoon in the morning, and 1 before bed. Cartoon in the morning lets me wake up a little and get breakfest and then cartoon before bed lets the kids sit quietly and calmly and get ready for bedtime. Other then that, i reduce them watching TV by simply shutting it off, getting them playing with me or each other, and TV goes back on when mommy says it can :-)

just turn it off, make a tv schedule so they know when they can watch tv without any arguement. like at my house on school night's no tv & computer is only on for schoolwork. If they are not in school yet then read, play, if its off they will find something else to do, trust that.

Sell the tv and use the money to buy a trampoline. They won't even think about losing the tv. They'll also be too tired to watch it anyway.

Turn it off. Get outside and play. Don't be afraid to let them get dirty (kids love to play in the dirt and garden) ride bikes, play basket ball, play baseball...play soccer! Run and shout!!
