Sometimes when i am in other countries i am mistaken "im British" for another citizen of another country , are all those people who make that mistake racist.? because we are what we are the difference between a Pakistani and an Indian are not so obvious , its NOT an English issue why the two countries dont get on. All of you with a different colour skin to me are guilty of not accepting that this is cultural difference and is prevalent in any country , however , repeat however , only England has the freedom of speach that allows you to discuss these matters ,as we do now , dont abuse this freedom.

For those that do not understand .
Many immigrants in England accuse the British of being racist , this question poses the same situation but in reverse.
A Paki , whether Indian or not is called a Paki because we cannot distinguise .
The same applies when a Paki or an Indian mistakes me for an Aussie or perhaps a CANADIAN ( SEE ONE DAFT POSTING ) whilst in thier country . All those who accuse us of being racist do exactly the same in thier own country.

Quite right, it really isn't our job to determine where everyone is from. People from different cultures need to be willing to graciously educate us, not be nasty because of our ignorance.

Why do you refer to it as "not an English issue" and why does "only England" give freedom of speech. Surely you mean Britain. Or is that because the differences between an English, Scots, Welsh or Irish man/woman are not so obvious?
Sorry doughnut but I can tell the difference between a Pakistani citizen and an Indian one........

they don't. you may obviously listen the version between intense Dutch and intense German. regardless of the reality that that is a diverse matter with Neder Saksisch it truly is spoken in jap Netherlands and west Germany. That sounds very a lot an same. And if Frysian is spoken that is sounds a lot more effective in direction of English language. To be honest i'd not be in a position to save chinese except for jap language. no longer out of disrespect, yet because I ame no longer a lot familier with those languages. So Dutch nor German are not any further realy indignant in case you mix their languages up, a minimum of no longer those Germans and Dutch who i understand of. The are not any further so tender. although the international places/languages close to to Germany and Netherlands should be in a position to take heed to the diverse very obviously. And Dutch are information German and English staggering. German's don't realize Dutch, yet i wager that that is only a matter of interest in others.... which the Germans perchance lack? and perchance the actual shown reality that Dutch do not push their language by ability of human beings throats (likes the French and the Germans do). some more effective clarification: French and German are way more effective nationalic about their languages. it truly is also the reason that Brussel in which became spoken Dutch for a lengthy time period.... now French is pushed with the help of their troats. and then overseas media declare that the Dutch speaking component of Belgium is nationalic. in case you realy do a touch analyze in to language situation whithout being prejudged.... you'll see that is in common words the otherway round. no longer so some time previous in trains travelling from Netherlands in to French speaking component of Belgium there have been indications: that is forbidden in this prepare to communicate Dutch. That extreme French pushed their language in to Belgium. that is a silent propaganda ****, which also takes position in Canada. And that resulted interior the actual shown reality that today lot's of Brussel human beings nowerdays can no longer study their own hystory city manyscripts from the seventeenth century, because all of them are written in Dutch language, the language which became spoken in Brussels. And this all takes position because of French nationalism. it truly is with a media propaganda twisted in giving the Dutch speaking component of Belgium the blaim to adhere to Dutch....? that is a peculiar international each so often.

Hi. Maybe it didn't occur to you that those people aren't really being racist but just assumed you were American and not British because Caucasians basically look the same. And In most countries they assume you are an American even if you are a Canadian, Australian, American, British, German, Spaniard because you have almost the same physical characteristics in general. Just like Asian people. I traveled to Thailand and they mistook me for one of their own when I am actually a Filipina. I was sitting beside an elderly Chinese lady and started speaking to me in Chinese because she assumed I was one. When I went to a travel agency to book my flight to Koh Samui island in Thailand the lady assumed I was Japanese. She apologized and said she mistook me for one because of my eyes and skin color. What do Asian people mostly have in common? Fair to brown skin, slight to medium build, and small almond shaped eyes. I hope that though my explanation was very long hopefully someone got the point I wanted to convey. Thanks

Oh you poor thing. Someone thought you were "american"? I don't know how to console you. To be mistaken for the most hated people worldwide - that must be tough. As long as you realize deep down you are NOT american, I think you'll be able to put this trauma behind you.

I'm Canadian and so very glad to be.

It is simply people identifying with an image or culture they understand and relate to skin colour, accent, or other mannerisms.
Agreed, at least UK USA and rare other places allow us to discuss and ask, and think out loud.

I think it is about time we forget colour, age, race, and religion, and start seeing others as fellow human beings.
