So cuckoo does not have to expend energy in raising its own young.

The cuckoo chick hatches first and then throws the other chicks from the nest.
the parent crow will feed the chick as it's own until it leaves the nest.

In Europe and Asia the species of cuckoo there is a nest parasite. It will lay its eggs in the nest of other birds and let the other birds raise its young. The cuckoo chick is larger than the other chicks and will throw them out of the nest. That being said, I dont think they would use a crows nest. They target smaller song birds. The cuckoo chick would be smaller than a crow chick.

In the United States our cuckoos are not nest parasites. The parents raise their own young. Here cowbirds do the same thing. Again, they use smaller song birds as hosts.

It's the shrewdest strategy of the animal kingdom

By laying it's egg in the crows nest ..the cuckoo saves time and energy in raising it's young
This energy and time it uses to produce more offspring and so the population of cuckoos increases

The crow unfailingly takes care of the cuckoo that grows up to do simply what it's parents did...fool the crow!

Cuckoos are parasitising birds that use other birds to raise their young. That way they don't have to expend the energy of nest building, incubating, or rearing the young and are able to have more clutches during the breeding season.
