I missed a flight this morning. My ticket is non-transferable, non-refundable. What, if anything, can I do to make this work in my favor as much as possible? American Airlines

You may be able to re-book for a fee, but "non-transferable, non-refundable" doesn't sound very good. The airlines aren't lenient at all with "fly or die" tickets. You may have forfeited the entire fare.

SNG Canary's answer is mostly correct - you will have to pay the ticket change fee ($75 - $100) and you can reuse it. However - when this has happened to me - I missed the flight be a few hours or 1 day with a legitimate excuse (human error) you tell the agent at the airport. They want to fill up the planes that are on the runway waiting with empty seats - so they will work you onto a flight that day. Trying to change the ticket to another day several days away - requires you to pay the change fee ($100) plus the difference in airticket fare (if you got the ticket at $200 and now the price is $400 - you will pay $100 change fee plus $200 for the difference in fare.).

Best advice is to go to the airport the day you want to fly (but the same day or no more than a day later) - have a good story and they should help you with just the $100 change fee. Waiting too long - and you will be screwed with full fare pricing!

Get to the airport. You can probably stand by for the next flight without charge. If you cant get to the airport call AA as quickly as possible. If they have not suspended your ticket you can use it within a year with a change fee, usually $100. If you dont call you will lose all value of the ticket. My clients do this all the time. Nonrefundable just means you cant get your money back, it doesnt mean it has no value. Nontransferable means you cant change the name on the ticket. You have to use it. Good luck!

It depends on the member of staff at the airport and what tale you tell.

I have done this only a couple of times and got away with it onto the next flight. This was on non transferable, non refundable tickets.

If its a destination that is served frequently throughout the day or has another flight today, get yourself down there now and see what they say.
DO NOT CALL THE AIRLINE!

Rush to the airport anyway (NOW). Act frantic and beg the AA agent to accomodate you on another flight. Don't make up unbelievable stories. Just tell the truth why you missed it. Don't bother calling unless you know AA's number at the airport counter.

If its the cheapest fare, its actually non refundable , therefore since you were non-show you can not get any money back. However sometimes (depending on good will) the airline might reserve you on another date with an extra cost.

the main inexpensive i ought to discover exchange into Delta from Houston interest to Sarasota/Bredenton for $179. Granted, it is not precisely Tampa appropriate, yet close sufficient in case you have somebody to %. you up, and the cost seems surprisingly life like.
