Check Yahoo groups for a group local to you. This is a great idea as you can get a feel for the group before you even meet them.
Then, a hint. Check your local esoteric store. Many times there are bulletin boards with local meets, or the shopkeeper will know which local groups are open to the general public.
There are many ways to find a local group. These are just a few suggestions.
