Undeterminable by appearance. However, you can take a guess by looking at the shape of the bird's head. Females have a rounder and smaller head than the male. The male's head is squarer, with a flatter forehead.
the only accurate way is dna testing................

Hey

There isnt a way really, if u tried u would end up getting it wrong anyway,

Its best to get them DNAed, take them to your vets and they will pull two or three chest feathers,

Or if u cant afford to have vet do it, do it yourself, ring up a place who dna's birds and ask for dna bags and forms, then get someone to hold the bird in a towel on its back and you carefully seperate its chest feathers try and grab from right close to the body (make sure u pull one at a time) and pull quick u will hear a "snapping" sound, dont touch the end of the feather just drop it in bag, and send them off it only takes a few days for results after that....

DNA testing. There are several places that will do it for a minimal cost.

http://www.vetdnacenter.com/avian-sexing.html
1-4 samples / 5 or more samples
Blood Samples $19 / $17
Feather Samples $23 / $21

1-10 birds = $20 each
11-20 birds = $19 each
More than 20 = $18 each

there is no way to tell. you have to do a feather or blood test to find out. you can have it done by our vet, local pet store, or ads in the back of "birdtalk" magazine. it costs about $20
