Yes!
It's rubbish, isn't it. That's why the media keeps quiet about it. Can you imagine the supermarket offer - free mother in law with each boyfriend? They'd never sell a thing.
I've found that it's a case of weighing up the pros and cons. How great is your partner compared with how much you hate your potential in-laws-to-be? Unfortunately, b/g friends are usually unwilling to part with their offending relatives - you should bear this in mind when shopping for a wife...
There's always emigration - trust me, I'm considering it!

I have had nothing but probs with my mother in law since giving her a grandson. Before my son was born she would call us every day to every second day, always eager for us to have a baby we told her first once we discovered I was pregnant. After our son was bore she became distant, and now we hardly see or speak to her, and she has turned into a real cow, but 2yo wouldnt even know who she is. In Laws only like us for a while i think, some never at all, but eventually we become not good enough for their precious child.

Oh dear god yes.
My husband's parents drive me insane for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being that before we were married we were not allowed to sleep in the same bed at their place. We were in our 20's and living together. Furthermore I was ALWAYS referred to as "our son's friend" not girlfriend, just friend.....

without ratting your spouse out, attempt to persuade them now to not bypass in so close. inspite of how you experience about your mom and father, you're portion of a pair now and understand on your spouse's thoughts in this count number ought to win out. Joint possession of a house ability equivalent say. except your mom and father are naive, they're going to understand and the right portion of do isn't intervene.
