Both actions have the same purpose
To get more oxygen into your respiratory system
When you stretch your arms this expands your chest ,
so increasing your lung capacity .( You take in extra oxygen )
Yawning assists by in taking deep gulps of air
Which has a similar effect .
.
Usually we do both yawning and stretching together !!
Yawning and stretching now .... lol!
must go for a nap .

When we're tired, the muscles in our bodies relax and contract. Stretching, I think, stiimulates the muscles and encourages the blood to circulate, which is why we feel a sudden, if momentary, burst of energy when we stretch...or indeed yawn too!

people stretch because the blood kind of sits and slows down when you sit or lie down for awile. so thats also why your leg falls asleep if you were sittng on it. so we stretch to get the blood going again.
yawning is if you are kinda out of breath. or if you see someone else yawn, your body thinks you need more oxygen too so you yawn too. (yawning is contagious!!)

We yawn when we are not getting enough oxygen and so it regulates our breathing and we stretch to wake up our muscles.

When I am tired I move less and my muscles stiffen up. I stretch my body to stretch my muscles.

When we yawn our brains are telling us that it needs more oxygen. The stretching is to kind of "wake up "your muscles.Hope this answers your queston.
