People think they are alone in their troubles; and when other people share their trials and triumphs with others; everyone sees that they are NOT alone, and gives them courage that they can overcome their difficulties.

It depends what do you share with others.
If you share a good experience, where you earned knowledge, respect, fame or power due to your hard work & intelligence, of course, others will be encouraged to follow you.
But if you tell them about your mistakes, sins you committed and sufferings/punishments you had to face consequently, it will deter them to do the same. They'd try to avoid being like you as much as possible.

I think so, especially if we share a part of ourselves that shows our own weaknesses, fears, and ways of overcoming them.
