Okay, I just got Real Player for free, and it installed good, but now it's asking me to register. I'm afraid that I have to pay for Real Player if I do. I think I have Real Player Gold, cause the app says REAL_10.5_GOLD, or something like that. I wanna know is it totally free? ANd is the one I have 100% free? What'll happen if I register, and do I need to? What's the diff between Real Super and Gold Pass and what are they? Help!

Real Player Gold should be free
Real Player probably asks you to register so you can subscribe to their database for junk/ad-emails
i'm sure the Registration message is a more invasive form of getting you to sign up for Super Pass which is not free.
I don't actual have Real Player, instead i have installed Real Alternative

I found Real Player a pain as it gave me unwanted ads.
Windows Media Player 11 works fine.
And i'd recommend sticking to that, while using the Real Alternative package
on top of that i have also installed
Quicktime alternative

And CCCP
http://www.cccp-project.net/
basically using this combo, I can play any form of media file.
CCCP also comes with media player classic, which is a minimal application, say if you just want to play one file, and don't fancy too many options to fiddle around with.
so this way, you can play any file under WMP11 without having to install an ad-based player like Real Media Player

Real Player Gold is free for a while then you have to pay for it. Go to the Realplayer site and look for the free player if you don;t want to pay for it. It won't be easy to find but it is there.

Real Super and Gold Pass is where you can buy stuff to play. Real Player BASIC is free. If you don't want to BUY or SUBSCRIBE, just close the window.

RealPlayer is free. You can upgrade to the Pro version and that you would have to pay for. But what you have is a free version. You don't have to worry about it. If they ask for a credit card (which they won't unless you are PURCHASING the PRO version) and you dont' want to pay for it, don't put in your cc number!!
