You'll find that children adapt quite easily. We use both english and danish at home.

Usually the child starts by using the language the mother speaks first. The key is to introduce both languages together as a natural course of interacting with your child. Try not to make it a lesson when they are so young.

The only thing you need to remember is bi-lingual children tend to use speech later than others as they are processing two languages. Once they do get started (for my oldest it was 1yr) they are real chatterboxes and can switch easily from one to the other.

I am bi lingual. I speak fluent English (as raised in UK schools) but I also speak an Indian language.

My daughter is raised in England and I am Welsh. I talk to her in Welsh at home. Everywhere she speaks English (beautifully). When I go home to Wales to visit my family we all speak Welsh and she follows suit. Children are very open to this kind of learning.

My brother lived in Brazil for some time and speaks fluent portuguese, and he is raising their girls bilingually (their mom has picked it up too!) They just say things in portuguese as well as english. Like, they will say, "Do you want something to eat?" and then repeat it in portuguese. The girls are fluent now and they're very young.
