Get the tests done to see why this is happening . There could be a number of reasons why the cells are small. But to put your mind at ease a bit,I had small red blood cells, and a small number of them. After tests to rule out anything more serious, this ANEMIA was treated with iron supplements--that's all. You just have to find out what's causing the anemia,to be able to treat it properly.
And by the way, it's the WHITE blood cells that fight infection, not the red.

Small red blood cells (Microcytic anemia) may be due to lack of iron in your blood, So many causes for low levels of iron, mainly nutritional, or long term blood loss in small amounts eg: Hemorrhoids, Heavy periods, hookworm infestation etc. There are so many reasons of microcytic anaemia, you only need investigations and examinations to find out what exactly is the cause. and most of these causes are treatable with out long term consequences, I do not think that you need to panic at this moment just go to your doctor relaxed mind and answer his questions properly and corporate in examination and investigations and that's it. Don't be worried too much. just do the routine.

You are doing well...!

What would be the point of worrying? Firstly, worrying will not affect the outcome. Secondly, if someone tells you on here you should be worried are you immediately going to plunge into a worried state. Go back to your doctor and ask the question. Regardless of the answer don't waste energy worrying.
