No way! I think you should pick a name that suits your dog (or any animal for that matter!) - picking a name like Rex or Spot is a bit of a cop out in my opinion, there's no personality on a name like that! We've always had a short list of names before getting a puppy or kitten and picked the firm name when we've met them. My oldest cat, for example, is called Mildrid because she was never playful as a kitten - she was always like a serious old lady so we though Mildrid suited her! My dog is called Gordon and it suits him perfectly.

i have never seen a dog with the name rex but i called my dog daisy and have met about 6 other people with dogs sharing that name i also have a dog called crash hes a lab with the mind of a jack russel lol

I named my dog Leah (princess leah) quite a girlie name I know but she is quite a bit prim and proper (For a dog that is)
