Well Anne you must be aware of some facts:

one whisky (40%)provide about 150 calories.
This is equivalent to the calories burnt by a 70kgs man running on a flat threadmill for 30 minutes at 7 kms /hour.

One pound of fat stored under the skin is equivalent to 3500 cals. stored.

Now you can do your own calculations. OK?

Yes.
One of the most obvious consequences of binge drinking is rapid weight gain. Alcohol and weight gain are like peanut butter and jelly – you just can’t have one with out the other!
After-all, for every gram of alcohol you drink, there are seven calories hidden there. So for every ounce of alcohol you drink, you’ll be consuming between 100-200 empty calories. And that doesn’t include the soda, juice or other flavorings in your drink that pack on even more empty calories.
If you drink “just a little” (let’s say about three drinks), that’s at least 600 calories, or if you drink heavily (about 5-6 drinks), that’s over 1,000 calories!
On the bright side, a four-ounce glass of red wine has only 100 calories, and is full of beneficial antioxidants. Our advice? Do like the Italians and learn to love red wine. You’ll save hundreds of calories just by switching over.

I heard that drinking beer makes you fat. I would imagine because of the strong acid that's in it that makes you belch all the time while you drink it. If you consume it on a regular basis, all of that extra gas in in your stomach and I'm assuming that is why people get the infamous "beer gut". I'm no doctor, but that is my educated guess. :)

Hello =)

Alcohols do not significantly increase blood glucose, which seem to be the biggest factor in weight gain......

Mix with Tonic water, Club soda, or diet sodas, and you'll be fine, if you're a mixer....

Good Vodka in Tonic with a little lime is very nice, tasteful, and actually good for you.

Once your liver is damaged, however, its ability to regulate your metabolism will be compromised, at which point you may indeed have problems with weight gain.

Namaste,
