I am planning to go and live in Oz for a year with my gril friend and am looking for sugestions of work that I could do and how much I would be paid. At the moment I work on building sites, but I will try anything as long as it leagal.

Whatever your paperwork allows you to do. Australia's pretty strict about who they let into the country, what they can do there and for how long, so just make sure you have the correct visa and that you understand its conditions. I believe that if you're aged between 18 and 30 you can spend 12 months in Australia doing casual work, but you can't have the same employer for more than 6 months.

I suggest you give fruit picking a go, it is a great way to make money, and see Australia. With different fruits being ready at different times of the year, it would be pretty constant too.
The amount paid usually depends on the amount picked, but as long as you are both fit and healthy, you should be able tp pick ample amounts. Good luck.

Get some bar work experience before you go,my daughter has just been around Australia for a year,never out of work can go to any town and get short term work, meet the natives ,find out all the stuff ordinary tourists never get to know or see.

You don't say where you're coming from or under what visa. It isn't automatic that you can legally work at all.
