Then treat her like a friend.....

Just have coffee away from your home and talk about old times and what you're doing in your lives now.

Then afterwards say that was nice....I'm glad we did it.

But don't make plans to do it again.

Just go for a coffee, talk of new adventures, have a few laughs. Remember to make sure she understands this is not a date but two friends catching up. Don't let her get the wrong idea, unless you decide otherwise.

What do you normally do when catching up with friends. Do whatever is comfortable at the time Be yourself

Good Luck

First of all most guys are not capable of being friends with an ex so when you run into her and say "lets catch up" she already thinks you have ulterior motives so it doesn't matter where you take her, the only way that she may think different is if you flat out tell her you just wanna be friends be honest with her and good luck!

I would try going to a quiet place where I could have a long conversation with my boyfriend and hear the things he has to say and tell him the things I have to say. This way, we will have a chance to know each other better.
I am talking about a nice conversation, like telling how life has been and sharing dreams and plans, nothing like straighting things up.
Try a place where a fondue is served by the fire place. I know one place in South Park Avenue in NY, that is great. Try to find a place with a warm atmosphere.

Why would you suggest hanging out without a plan? Maybe that's why she left you in the 1st place. You don't tell us your intentions so no one can really help you. You say you don't want it to "seem" like a date. Which suggests an ulterior motive.

I suggest going to a museum. It's neutral territory, you can take your time and talk and it's educational at the same time.

Go get coffee, breakfast or lunch because then it won't seem like a date if you do it early. Having dinner at night time or hanging out in the evening may seem like a date.

Then do just that. I would worry though about her misconstruing your motives- that she would misunderstand and perhaps hope that you wanted to get back together. Maybe you could do something with a bunch of people and keep things very light, let her know that you just want to keep the friendship going.

Grab some dvds you know she likes and invite her over to your place. That way at least if she wants to see you for a bit of shag you'll at least be in the right place and mood.
