I think most of us do. Over time I discovered I never knew who that person was, as an individual, he was just 'my father'. We rarely saw him except after a full days work, always playing 'catch up' with household problems, or helping others who were is worse trouble than us. He rarely got a rest period long enough to have any play with us and didn't know us any better than we knew him until we got big enough to give him more troubles. Responsibility and obligation can warp any relationship enough to cause 'father issues' or 'mother issues' when we begin to figure out how come we are the way we are.

My biological father should not have sired children, I believe. He was, and is, too emotionally unhealthy. He severed ties with his own parents by age 17, severed ties with me when I was 12, and began a fallout with my sister when she was 17 or a little older. Sometimes it is not physical abuse, drugs, or alcoholism, but what's wrong in the head. I also recognize my own issues, so I definitely don't want to be a father.

father issues? like you and your father have a bad relationship? well i have a problem with my pop too. my parents are separated and if i am with him he's really overprotective. he always say bad things about mom and mom does the same with him too. i think it is normal for a family to have issues, problems and stuff. if you think you're the only one who have issues, there is a lot out there maybe even worse than yours.. i think everyone has issues it is just a test of relationship and all you need is to be strong...

sure, most people have FAMILY issues, not only Father issues

I think it's because your family ( most of the time)
wants what is BEST for you & sometimes you do
not agree w/ what they think is best

Yes, my boyfriend has huge father issues... his dad won't even ackowledge him... Has done absolutely nothing for him. Wouldn't even give him any money for a car, for college... didn't even pay maintenance. All my boyfriend gets for his birthday is a text message saying: "Happy Birthday..."
I call his dad his sperm donor, cos that's all his done for him...

My boyfriend has always said it doesn't bother him, but i know deep down it does. He's got to where he is today by himself. (With a little help from mom as she is a single parent with 2 other kids). He opened up to me once and said he'll always be there for his kids no matter what cos his dad wasn't there for him and he knows how it feels...
