Depression is a lack of hope.

It is as if you have entered a black hole so deep that you can no longer see the light that leads to a way out and you are tired of trying to find it. You reach the point where you think what's the use of anything anymore?

You have to find a reason to live.

Many people cry out whatever name they give to God and ask for help. Their core, their essence, their soul if you will, reaches the point where it gathers itself for that scream or whisper that says, "I am at my end, help me!"

And help comes...

Somehow, one way or another, that person in their depression finds a way to go on even if it's for another 5 minutes or another day. Then something happens or changes, maybe just a little thing or something major, but change happens and they go on again. Little by little or maybe all at once they find that they are out of the hole of despair and living again.

It's different and yet somehow the same for everyone. We reach a breaking point and cry out. Hope is sent but just like having a life preserver thrown at you when you are drowning, you have to grab on to that hope and hold on with both hands.

Cry out. Find the hope sent to you. Recognize it as a way out of your despair.

I pray that everyone who reads this will take a second and send strength to you in their thoughts and prayers.

wow that's a bunch of interesting advice (above) stay away form melatonin you certainly don't need any sleep aids or anything changing you brain chemistry that your Doctor doesn't know about.
You sound over medicated, lithium is a very serious drug that really should only be used to treat bi-polar as the side effects are severe and out weigh the benefits for most any other disorders.
you need to find a new psychiatrist soon and explain that you need to be able to focus and study (lithium will heavily interfere with your ability to concentrate).
your goal here should be to get yourself off as many drugs as you can(under a doctors care as your meds require a tapering off, DO NOT QUIT COLD TURKEY!), meaning you need to find a good therapist to help you work through your issues and find a different perspective on your life, your hobbies such as yoga and meditation are a good start at building health-full positive pastimes.
If have been heavily depressed for more than 6 months untreated you may need to be on some drugs in order to maintain a healthy brain chemistry however you will have a much higher quality of life if you can minimize the drug treatment and work through your issues and find happiness that isn't based off a lab created chemical.

I know how you feel...i have the same condition however I amnot on medication. I took medication a while back and it just made me feel worse. So I made a choice to do this without the meds. You need to realize noone will have the solution for you. But you. I had a rough childhood too. But I can not go on thinking it's hereditary...because than we are under the impression that we are doomed. And you can't accept that since your looking for a way out.
Seek a therapist you trust...if they don't listen keep looking
surround yourself only with positive friends...
if your house or room looks gloomy...make it look brighter get rid of sad art
if family is drawing you down...be strong and limit contact with them until your better
Give yourself credit and encouragement when due...and keep a online journal reviewing your growth.

Good luck you'll be okay

hi, I think i can help u in this matter, i suggest u to take a second opinion on ur medication. i dont say wht u r having now is wrong (as far as lithium carbonate is concerned) but some more drugs can be added or deleted.
The anti-depressants will help u till 99% becoz medical history donot assure u to 100% in anything.
so consult another doctor(Psychiatrist). U will have good results. Depression is the most common issue these days. Its my personal experience(7 yrs in psychiatry) that i have seen so may people come out of it successfully with little medication and regularity in it.

Good luck.go ahead. Donot waste time in health issues.

Apart from the prescribed medications, why not try the natural stuff? They say the brain foods are Omega 3 (from fish oil), and Vitamin B complex. So try those... Someone close to me also suffering same and she's trying those out especially the fish oil.

Get some more information on brain foods from the internet as well.

Plus, maybe check your surroundings and clear the clutter around you. Maybe do some feng shui check??

Good luck.

First of all you need a little medical/professional help and most importantly you have to come out of your atmosphere in which you are in currently. That will solve most of your problems.

Depression can be of many causes, maybe the presence of the same old things in front of you each day is hampering your mood to come out of the situation you are in currently. Make a change, even in your everyday routine, That will help quite a lot.

Good luck.

Dear Friend,

I was also suffered from this problem, the only way is to take excercise/ Yoga regularly and try to think positively. Try one by one. I promise you fail 100 times but don't give up. Try to count 1 to 10 at the first instance you will fail try again ....again..again..may boring....but try because it is for you you are doing....try...don't try to compare you with others. If needed take medicine also. But don't give up. All the best.

I have been treated for depression since i was in my late 20s, I am in my 50s now. I have good days and bad days, and a lot of Meds to help me. I do not think, (in my case) there is a total *cure* I wish you well, and there is help you can get, but it is a long road to travel, and try to find someone who understands to go along with you on that journey.
