My dog is etremely scared, all the time, he always recoils when I see, he even does it when I see him eating, you would think hes abused! Even when I holding him or petting him! Is there anyway to get him to trust me more?

He's actually never alone. But thanks for the rest of the advice. I'll definetly try that.

Some dogs are really skittish by nature but you can do some things to help them out of it. my dog if afraid of the refrig still (6yrs later) since i can't change the noises that scare him i encourage him when he does other things (and i give him cookies near the fridge) but he really needs confindence on his own. I can't tell if your dog is really small but if you are holding him all the time that can be a negative, he needs to get around without the security of your arms. I put a little coat on mine and that helps alittle with the tremblies that he gets. Just like any other training using treats and positive reinforcement is a good start. Rubbing the tips of their ears is supossed to calm them too. Good luck sorry I can't give you more help.

My border collie is like that. Try leaving a radio on when he's alone so he gets used to extra noise (he may have sensitive hearing), do as much obedience training as you can. Massage his gums, his feet, everything about him to get him used to touch as much as possible. If he hides when things scare him call him out, give him a treat for coming and just let it be known you will not permit the cowering behavior.

if the dog is a rescue. it could have been abused. do not reinforce the scared behavor by telling him that everthing is ok. try to only renforce the good behavor. Talk to a dog trainer in your area.
