alpha courses are not to attract new people, as you put it, it;s to INFORM people who are searching Christianity or investigating it. And God certainly reveals himself to people in visions and miracles (I know cos I have experienced it!!!!! undeniable, but I wont try and convince you cos I understand that unless something like that happens to you personally its hard to believe).
But I will say that if you REALLY want to be certain that God is real, and your intentions are right - ask him ernestly to reveal himself to you and I assure you He will.

Well, the bible is what we have to prove God exist by the Bible's accuracy in history. and prophecy accounts including the way things are occurring in our day.
The miracles done in Jesus day were to prove Gods power and Jesus authority, ( Jesus is God like, but not Almighty God ).
So that is another truth you need to acknowledge. Those miracles were to assist the Apostles in starting new congregations. The Jews as a nation lost Gods favor by putting his son to death, and God has chosen a new nation of spiritual minded persons that have put faith in the bibles accounts and in Jesus sacrifice.
There are no miracles needed in our day. Not that they cannot happen, but the bible is sufficient for us to have the proper amount of understanding and be able to make an intelligent decision regarding our lives.

1)-Jesus was human being and had come to rferesh the teachings of Torah to all Israelites including their ten tribes, who had migrated to Afghanistan. His mission was over, when a new universal code of practice became inevitable to unite the whole human race under one set of tennents ie globalisation of human morals and society.
2)-When the omnipresent and almighty God is there to listen to you at all times and nearest to you than anything else in the world, why you look for mortal with a limited mandate?Anybody who is true to instructions of God is the manifest of Jesus, Abraham, Moses, Muhammad and 124,000 were all significant manifests of God. Others, like saints and poius people too were manifest to the extent of their capapability.Remember, the holy Christ gave you all a message of hope-should you have an iota of faith, you can make the mountains to move. What miracle you want, what are your visions? Please do not think, talk or live in hypothetical conditions.First you should have your aims about life and then set baseline of your values and then decide the approach you opt to follow. For example, if you start to agree with me you have sequence of approach like
i)-Should I be vauing this gift of life?
ii)-How much allegiance, you think you owe to your creator, what attributes you expect from your creator?
iii)-How much allegiance, you think you owe to your fellow beings, family and society in general?

Good question- I don't think the alpha course is that bad but like you I'm slightly cynical, and this coming from a Christian. I'd rather just have my own Bible study with a seeking friend than some course, which seems to put God on a par with cross-stitch for beginners!!
"As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here"
Luke 11:29-32
Jesus isn't some sort of magician who has to prove himself to you- it is you (and all of us) who will be answerable to him for the lives we've lived when we die.

Jesus died about 2000 years ago so of course he will not be around now and to see visions or miracles you need to open your heart up to Jesus or how else are you going to see them you only see what you want to see

Regardless of whether God exists or not, every organisation needs to communicate to new potential members. Alpha is a way of reaching out to new people, and start the discussion of religion, although potentially from a one-sided perspective.

Alpha course are designed to help people further their journey of faith. I have been brought up in a christian family so have believed all my life, but I have also done an alpha course. I have my beliefs, you have yours, but maybe you should be more open minded when it comes to beliefs which are not your own.

The Alpha Course is mainly about spreading an exaggerratedly homophobic interpretation of Christianity, homophobia isn't natural and doesn't happen by itself ... it has to be learned.

God is not real, or rather, there is no god. The lack of revelation os the main sticking point in getting non-believers to believe. I will never believe there is a god unless I see for myself, and until then I will consider all religion to be crazy nonsense.
